Daniel Phung also known as ‘Daniel-San’ and ‘Bboy Lazy’, started dancing at the age of 12 being inspired by his brother and cousin. He started learning Poppin’ and Bboyin’ from ‘StreetVibes’ leader, Nathan Geering. As he grew, so did his understanding of Hip Hop dance from Old school to New school. In 2004, Daniel started Contemporary dance, learning different contemporary styles and improving his technique..
In recent years Daniel has attended master-classes lead by many of the leading figures in hiphop dance including; Poe One (USA), Bboy Mouse (UK/Philippines), Bboy Blanka (USA/Denmark), Greenteck (Canada), Philip Chbeeb (USA).
Since 2006 Daniel has performed for many events such as Breakin’ Convention Sheffield, iMove on the Street – part of the Cultural Olympiad (both with Rationale and choreographer Beth Cassani), Sheffield’s Olympic Torch Relay and International Doc/Fest. He has also performed on stage with Kurtis Blow/Furious 5 as part of their UK Tour.
Alongside his professional dance career Daniel studies Contemporary Dance at Leeds Metropolitan University, lead by Rachel Krische and Beth Cassani. Always striving to break the boundaries between dance forms, Phung explores interesting ways of movement through seamlessly blending his Contemporary and Street styles to create his very unique style of dance.
